The first-ever Light and Sound Interactive starts Sept. 12, showcasing Rochester’s experts in fields such as imaging, audio and optics.

A conference and expo, LSI will focus on light and sound-based technologies and their applications in emerging fields such as virtual and augmented reality, games, cinema, and music. The conference is interactive, featuring talks by leading experts, panel sessions, workshops, and product demonstrations. The free event runs through Sept.14 at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center and Hyatt Regency in downtown Rochester.

LSI is being co-hosted by the University of Rochester and the Rochester Institute of Technology with major funding provided by the Wegman Family Charitable Foundation.

LSI will also highlight New York State’s $10 million accelerator challenge, Luminate. The competition, managed by High Tech Rochester, will accelerate startups in the optics, photonics, and imaging industries. Deadline for applications is Sept. 15, the day after LSI ends.
