The CaterTrax executive team includes Dan Welch, chief technology officer, Rich Rund, CEO, Jeff Luchetti, Chief Financial Officer, and Jed Sherman, Chief Operating Officer.

CaterTrax, a dba for Hospitality101 Inc., was acquired by Volaris Group, a wholly-owned division of Constellation Software Inc., officials announced this week. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rochester-based CaterTrax is an online software catering management platform that serves more than 4,000 customers in the United States and Canada. Their catering management software powers kitchens and streamlines customer ordering for managed hospitality providers and food-service operators.

The company will continue to service its existing customers and operate under the CaterTrax brand as CaterTrax Inc., Volaris officials said.

“This marks an exciting new chapter for the catering management software company as Volaris Group can offer the support to fuel future TRAX Platform innovations to better support CaterTrax clients,” CaterTrax officials said.

CaterTrax was co-founded in 2004 by Duff Rund, Richard Rund and Daniel Welch. The Rund family line in the restaurant industry dates back to 1906 with East Main Lunch—a 24-hour lunch cart on East Main Street.

Brothers-in-law Rich Rund and Daniel Welch crafted software to operate their business in a more data-driven way. CaterTrax’s software began as a way to manage orders and production at the Rund’s catering operation.

CaterTrax’s first office space was at High Tech Rochester’s Lennox Tech Enterprise Center. HTR is a nonprofit whose mission is to be a catalyst for innovators and entrepreneurs who plan to build high-growth businesses.

In 2004 Hospitality 101 was formally incorporated, and CaterTrax landed their first higher education client, Penn State.

Co-founders Rich Rund and Welch were the subjects of the inaugural RocGrowth Candids interview in December 2014.
